This directory contains the source code, executable image, special help file, Command Language Interpreter file, and initialization file for EDT_PLUS, an extension of EDT. EDT_PLUS allows the user to spawn subprocesses from within the EDT Editor. This allows the user to read MAIL, use PHONE, check names of files, etc. without having to EXIT the editor. EDT_PLUS uses VMS version 4.x and EDT utility routines. The user spawns the subprocesses by using the EDT nokeypad command XLATE. In keypad mode the user can define a key to use XLATE. The EDT initialization file, EDTPINI.EDT, has defined GOLD CONTROL D to be this key. To enable this editor, the user needs to edit EDTP.CLD and EDTPINI.EDT to use whatever device and directory needed, or define a system logical, EDTP$DIR, to point at the device and directory. Then use SET COMMAND to add the verb EDTP to the DCL tables. This can be doen permanently by the system manager. EDTPINI.EDT sets up many key definitions that may be usefull to any organization. These keys do such things as cheng buffers, copy buffers, EXIT, QUIT, insert a ruler, change word delimiters, change screen width, set TRUNCATE or NOTRUNCATE, and set HELP Library. EDTPINI.HLP is a help file that needs to added to EDTHELP and contains information on the special key definitions from EDTPINI. The copy of EDTHELP.HLB can be kept in EDTP$DIR and thus seperate from the VMS copy.
