FORD AEROSPACE & COMMUNICATION CORP. IN COOPERATION WITH: NASA/JSC BUILDING 37, LIFE SCIENCES MEDICAL OPERATIONS HOUSTON, TEXAS 77058. ATTENTION: WILLIAM BAKER SYSTEM MANAGER 713-483-5353 THE SETUSER FUNCTION ALLOWS A PERSON WITH CMKRNL AND SYSPRV TO MODIFY THE PROCESS USERNAME TO THAT OF ANY OTHER VALID USERNAME. THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS PERFORMING A 'SET PROCESS/NAME=' VMS COMMAND. THIS PROGRAM CHANGES YOUR SYSTEM ATTRIBUTES SUCH THAT THE SYSTEM THINKS YOU ARE THAT USER. AS SUCH YOU THEN HAVE ACCESS TO ALL FILES THAT USER WOULD HAVE ACCESS TO, INCLUDING MAIL. THE COMMAND FILE IS GENERALLY INVOKED BY DEFINING A SYMBOL, 'SETUSER'. THE SYNTAX IS AS FOLLOWS: SETUSER username [-sd] THE username IS THE USERNAME THAT YOU WISH TO EMULATE. THE -sd IS AN OPTIONAL PARAMETER THAT ALLOWS YOU SET YOUR DEFAULT DIRECTORY TO THAT USERS DEFAULT DIRECTORY. THIS PROGRAM USES THE 'SYS_UAFDATA' DATAFILE FOR ITS VALIDATION OF USERNAME AND SETTING OF THE UIC AND/OR DIRECTORY. YOU MUST DEFINE THE LOGICAL AT THE SYSTEM LEVEL SYS_UAFDATA AS FOLLOWS: DEFINE/SYSTEM/EXEC SYS_UAFDATA SYS$SYSTEM:SYSUAF.DAT THIS PROGRAM (OR THE OLD) IS USED WITH THE [.MAILLIB] COMMAND PROCEDURE THAT COMPRESSES USER'S MAIL FILE. IT IS ALSO USED BY THIS SYSTEM MANAGER TO SET THE MAIL_DIRECTORY TO [.MAIL] FROM THE TOP DIRECTORY FOR ALL NEW USERS ON THE SYSTEM. ON OUR SYSTEM, THE [.MAIL] SUB-DIRECTORY IS USED AS THE SYS$SCRATCH DIRECTORY FOR MANY FUNCTIONS THAT THE USERS INVOKE.
