HELP TEXT --------- Submitted by: Chris Doran Date: September 1988 Sira Ltd., South Hill, Chislehurst, Kent, BR7 5EH, England. Tel: +44 1 467 2636, Telex: 896649, FAX: +44 1 467 6515 Some general information HELP texts. See specific directories for HELP on packages in this kit. In the September 1988 release, the only changes are minor additions to RS232.HLP and TELEPHONES.HLP. ASCII.HLP shows the ASCII codes in octal, decimal, and hex, just like you had on RSX, but including the DEC multinational and HP LaserJet 8-bit codes, plus VT5x and VT1xx/VT2xx/VT3xx forms drawing. TERMINAL.HLP shows the device identity sequences for various terminals, culled from manuals and TERMTABLE.TXT. POSTCODES.HLP UK postal areas, including London postal districts. Very useful for dealing with infuriating people who don't give their town or county any more. Will someone please volunteer to type in the STD code directory, for people who only give a phone number? RS232.HLP how to wire up an RS232 to S5/8 cable. Saves everyone coming to ask. Also lists what the RS232 lines all do. SSP.HLP List of subroutines in the IBM Scientific Subroutine Package, DECUS 10-101/20-26 (I presume -- I got my copy from [1,11] on the LIBKIT tape that was once available in the UK). NOTE: I don't know any more about SSP than is in this HELP file, which was created from DEC's SPD No 15.45, and the SSP source file (which is completely uncommented!) TELEPHONES.HLP The full version on our system is an internal telephone directory, but this has been deleted here. What is left is a list of area codes for the US, taken from [VAX86D.RCAF86.MISC], and reformatted into a HELP file.
