There are two files which will allow you to set up automatic mailing of a VMS mail message to the people of your choice if there are archived documents awaiting retrieval. The files are: ARCHIVE_PENDING_RECOVERY.COM ARC.DTR The command procedure has several site-dependent items which will need to be modified, such as the default directory, the Datatrieve default, and the recipient(s) of the VMS mail message. The file ARC.DTR contains Datatrieve domain and record definitions for the indexed file which contains archive retrieval request records. It also contains the procedure which produces the report of these records. You should get into Datatrieve and in the dictionary where you want these files, issue the command DTR> @ARC This will bring the domain and record definitions and the procedure into your Datatrieve dictionary. The procedure ARCHIVE_RECOVERY_LIST will then need to be edited to change site-dependent information, namely the Datatrieve default dictionary. The final step is to set up the command procedure ARCHIVE_PENDING_RECOVERY.COM to run each night from a batch job, so that if there are any documents requested from archive, you will receive a mail message in the morning. Keep in mind that you can check the restore requests at any time from the Manage Archiving menu. This procedure just makes sure it gets checked automatically once a day, in case everyone forgets.
