I've accumulated enough changes to the DECthreads HTTP server to
warrant an official 1.5 release.  The source files, either tar or zip format,
may be obtained via anonymous FTP to osu.edu.  The zip file is also available
in web directory http://kcgl1.eng.ohio-state.edu/www/preview/.

A mailing list, VMS-WEB-daemon@WKUVXA.WKU.EDU, has been created for discussion
of the DECthreads server.  To subscribe send a command like the following
in the body of a mail message to MXserver@WKUVX1.WKU.EDU:

	SUBSCRIBE VMS-WEB-daemon "Your real name here"

Major features of the 1.5 release (added since 1.4a):

  o Support separate log files for accesses (common format), errors, and
    execution tracing.  A new error and trace log file is created every time
    the program is started, access log entries will be appended to an
    existing file if possible.

  o Changed ident_map.c to unescape URL before translation. (Mosaic 2.4
    escapes '~' in userdir URLS).

  o Access checks now apply to Scripts.

  o Improved VMSHELPGATE.  The program will now include the actual qualifiers
    in the menu, inserting anchor references.

  o Improved VMSHELP.COM script, de-escapes the search string and uses
    indirect symbol invocation to allow it to work with ":=" and "=" topics.

  o Added include directive to configuration file, allowing configuration
    information to be split into separate files.  Added accesslog and
    TraceLevel directives as well.

  o Include new getstats program to analyze access log (common format).

  o Changed http_server.com to pass parameters P2 through P5 to detached
    processes (P1 is replaced with RUN).  Also added P2/level option.

  o Changed http_server.com to make a better effort at determining
    http_default_host for non-UCX TCP systems.

The server supports 4 TCP/IP packages: UCX, Multinet, Wollongong, and CMU.
The package compiles and runs on either VAX(VMS 5.5 or later)  or AXP
platforms.  This version of the server is now running on
kcgl1.eng.ohio-state.edu.
