NAMES can use this information to create logicals for use by MAIL and SEND, so the user may MAIL or SEND to those people without having to remember their usernames or node names. NAMES also allows you to modify the NAMES data base. UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS The NAMES utility is distributed in an archive created by the OpenVMS version of ZIP, a common compression/archival utility in PC world. To unpack the archive, you must have the UNZIP utility. If you do not have UNZIP, it can be obtained by anonymous FTP at ftp.decus.org. The source files are located on the device VS0174:, and the directory [UNZIP]. To get to this directory, type the following commands at the FTP prompt: ftp> cd VS0174: ftp> cd [UNZIP] WARNING: Changing directory to VS0174:[UNZIP] WILL NOT WORK. The method to unpack the NAMES utility source files is as follows: 1. Create a [.NAMES] subdirectory on the device and directory where you install software. This will become your NAMES root directory 2. Copy the NAMES.ZIP file into your NAMES root directory. 3. Use the UNZIP utility to unpack the archive, using the following command: $ UNZIP NAMES If everything unpacked without errors, you should refer to the READ.ME file in the NAMES root directory for the installation instructions.
