You can only do this if the product has provided what is called a "transition kit" - this is just a file that describes the product. Look at SYS$UPDATE:*.PCSI$DESCRIPTION for examples. You could whip up your own if you wanted to by following the examples. Then you'd use the PRODUCT REGISTER PRODUCT command - you should do this for the appropriate VMS transition kit in SYS$UPDATE as you'll need to have done this before you install any products which have a PCSI kit.
