I did two things, which caused it to start working: 1. added "CMU * ?" to my DECW$SMB_SECURITY.DAT file (before, I had "CMU * *") 2. modified sys$manager:decw$startserver.com so that the decw$server_transports logical was properly defined in it. I suppose I should have mentioned that we are using Motif 1.2 here. Perhaps it now ignores decw$private_server_setup.com. Anyway, thanks to everyone who answered my question (especially Keith Lewis and Rick Caldwell, who had the correct answers). :-) BTW I do have internet_host_name defined, and I removed the "WKS" line from my internet.config. -Trevor
