It out performs other news readers by dynamically caching the indexes of groups which are read regularly. It gives excellent performance even when your news feed is via a slow wide area link (even at speeds as low as 9600 baud). The user interface is designed for both ease of use and speed so that it works well even on slow 2400 or 300 baud modems. The current release is version 2.2, you can get it from: grunt.marc.cri.nz pub/fnews It is available for both VAX and ALPHA. How to get it? -------------- ftp grunt.marc.cri.nz cd pub/fnews/alpha or pub/fnews/vms ascii get install.txt get extract.com binary get lzdcmp.exe get fnews.bck_z $ print install.txt $ @extract.com Chris Pugmire, chrisp@emagic.marc.cri.nz Note: Since version 2.0 FNEWS has become a commercially supported shareware product. i.e. it now costs money, but you get support and new features!
