These are what we have on our system (OpenVMS 6.2/Alpha): What Type Source TPU text + X11 OpenVMS EDT text OpenVMS TECO text OpenVMS EX text OpenVMS + POSIX ED text OpenVMS + POSIX VI text OpenVMS + POSIX JED text ftp.wku.edu in [.vms.fileserver]jed.zip PICO text vms.huji.ac.il, directory [.local] (part of PINE) NEDIT X11 ftp.fnal.gov NOTEPAD X11 OpenVMS + DECWindows DECwrite X11 Layered software, "free" in CSLG PICO is probably the simplest of the lot, perfect of occasional use as a text editor on a terminal or terminal emulator. A bit underpowered for serious editing jobs though. NEDIT is what I suggest for people using X11. Both are installed on both are OpenVMS and Unix systems so that people moving from one to another don't have to switch editors. (DECwrite is fun, but massive overkill for simple text editing!)
