The only hit I came up with is Q100108, "Overview of FAT, HPFS, and
NTFS File Systems". That did not especially surprise me, as I had run
this query before.

So I just did it the hard way. A working sample -- it compiles into a
command-line utility -- is available for perusal at
http://www.mvps.org/misc/, as lnw.cpp. And if I didn't goof again,
that page should even be readable with Netscape and IE3 now. <g>
