I M B E D D E D   R U L E R S:

  SEDT lets you enter an imbedded ruler directly into any buffer.  These 
  rulers (character strings) normally would be printed when you output your 
  document to either a file or printer.  The trick, therefore, is to hide the 
  rulers from the print stream.  One good way to do this is to use a text 
  formatting program like TXTF.  It ignores lines beginning with ".re" and 
  lets you hide the rulers behind these characters.  This GLD version of the 
  SEDT files takes advantage of this feature.
  
        Gold Control R (<Ruler>) places the existing ruler in the 
        current buffer with ".re SEDTruler=" as the first characters 
        of the line.
        
        Control R searches backward in the buffer looking for ".re 
        SEDTruler=...".  When it finds the line it takes on the 
        characteristics of the ruler behind it and returns to the 
        current cursor position.

O U T L I N E S:  ...predefined outline files

  These commands are used with an outline file and an outline description 
  file.  Gold O sets up the files as writing guides in buffers 2 and 3.  
  Gold <Find> and Gold <Halt> (`) helps quickly locate headings in the 
  main buffer when you first selecting them in the outline buffer.

   Gold O		    Load Outline and Outline Description Files
			    into buffers 2 and 3 respectively	
   Gold Find		    Use characters in selected range as a search
			    string.  Search in a specified buffer.
   Gold ` (Gold <Halt>)	    Use current line as search strin.  Search in
			    a specificied buffer.
   Contro O | Gold }        Mark current line with ASCII 1 <SOH>.  Gold
			    Control O will use this line in it's outline.
   Cold Control O | Gold {  Go through current buffer.  Place all <SOH>
			    outline marked lines in paste buffer.    

O U T L I N E S:  ...generating outlines within the main buffer.

Mark the lines in your document with the Control O key.  This puts an ASCII 1 
at the end of your line (looks like <SOH>...think of it as SEDT Outline 
Heading!!).  Press Gold Control O and SEDT will pick up your outline lines and 
put them into the paste buffer.  Paste them into one of the spare buffers 
(recommend 2).  You can now look at your single spaced outline.  If you want 
to move major sections around you can use Gold ` (halt key on LK201B keyboard) 
while you're looking at your outline...it will quickly locate this outline 
line in your main text buffer.  Press select...this starts the cut process.  
Next, go back to your outline buffer; locate how manu sections you want to 
move my selecting a different line in the outline (at this point the outline 
will be reverse video...use this as a reminder that your doing a select-cut).  
Press Gold ` again...this puts you back at that new position in your main 
buffer...this time the entire section you've marked will be selected and will 
be ready for cutting and moving!!!

  In the key-definition file it is possible to specify that a particular 
  command should display a prompt and wait for input, which it then incor- 
  porates into the basic command.  A key definition containing an exclamation 
  point followed by a delimited string (any visible character may be used as a 
  delimiter), when executed, prints out the specified string as a prompt and 
  waits for a keystroke, optionally preceded by <GOLD>.  The name of the key 
  thus detected is edited into the command.

  Similarly, a key definition containing a question mark followed by a 
  delimited string prints out the specified string as a prompt and waits for 
  a string input, terminated by <RETURN>, <DO>, or <ENTER>.  The input 
  string is then incorporated into the instruction.
